Jackie Kyger is an educator, a historical narrator, and a historical fiction novelist.
    
     A retired U.S. Coast Guard Officer, who in his second career is a professor at the University of Arizona Global Campus. He is an oral history volunteer, where he interviews and transcribes for the Community of Christ Historical Sites Foundation.

When not writing about history, he enjoys cycling and riding historical trails.

Jackie splits his leisure time between the mountains and the sea, where he writes about both.

Very Important Certificates, Awards and Factoids

  • A lifelong cyclist. As a boy, he was the city champion of the 12 year old division: Bicycle Rodeo.
  • 13 year old Duncan Yo-yo – Butterfly champion.  Can still walk-the-dog today!
  • Cub scout & Weblos.
  • 8th grade morning announcements MC & DJ.
  •  9th grade science fair award with the designation: Participant.
    (A realization, that everyone gets a trophy.)
  •  9th grade, a “D” in English I.  An emerging writer, yet to be discovered.
    (A rude awakening that, nope not everyone will get a trophy.)
  • Roller Rink Floor Guard & DJ. Yes, very good at roller skating. Even today.
  • GED diploma that he earned while in the military.
  • As a young man he won a standup comedy contest. The prize: Tickets to see Saturday Night Live (Season 15 Episode 8).
  • Life Guard certification, with a river water front endorsement. Where he volunteered at youth camps for the first half of his life.
  • Texas Auctioneer Academy graduate. Where he volunteers as a fund raiser for nonprofit groups in the second half of his life.
  • Attire: prefers Graphic Tees and Cargo shorts (the camouflage ones).
  • Footwear: Vans (but only the slip on kind) with black socks.
  • United blood drive – Gallon donor sticker holder.
  • Founding member of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS Plankowner)
  • Merchant Marine Z Card holder.
  • Captain’s license for 100 ton, with 200 ton as first mate, with an unlimited tonnage ship pilot, sailing and towing endorsements.
  • Class C Driver’s license with a motorcycle endorsement.
  • Library cardholder.
  • A technocrat of sorts as his toaster is electrical, and his phone is the flippy kind.
